Amed

The East of Bali has a number of lazy fishing villages, which are referred to as the Amed area. Amed offers the best snorkeling in Bali but also has a lot of amazing dive sites. More and more divers find their way to Amed and having dived these sites for several years, it is clear why Amed is becoming a very popular diving destination. Amed easily has some of the best and most interesting dive sites on the Island.

Jemeluk Bay

  • Type: Shore Dive
  • Level: All levels
  • Current: None
  • Depth: 5-25 meters

The easiest accessible dive in the area. Perfect for your first dive if you haven’t been diving for a while. Shallow and abundant coral garden right off the beach between 3-6 meters. There are a few artificial reef patches at about 12-20 meters with big coral fans growing on it. You can expect to see quite some macro life, a wide variety of nudebranches and a plentitude of Shrimps and Crabs. The occasional sea turtle and white tip reef shark can be spotted at depth.

Jemeluk Wall

  • Type: Shore Dive/Boat Dive
  • Level: All levels
  • Current: Mild
  • Depth: 10-40 meters

Just to the right from Jemeluk Beach there is an impressive wall, dropping down to about 50 meters. The dive starts over a shallow coral reef and then plunges down into the abyss. Huge sponge barrels and sea fans decorate the wall. This is a very impressive dive just because you can gaze up on the wall from below. This dive can be done by boat as well so you just float along the wall until you have to surface. We often see Sharks, Napoleon Wrasse, schooling Trevally, Bumphead Parrot fish, Turtles and many more.

Pyramids

  • Type: Boat Dive
  • Level: All levels
  • Current: Mild/Intermediate
  • Depth: 5-20 meters

Just a few minutes by boat from Jemeluk Beach is Pyramids. A lazy drift dive, which takes you along some artificial reefs followed by a real reef. We often see Turtles, Sharks, Napoleon Wrasse and of course many nudebranches and other macro life.

Bunutan Reef

  • Type: Shore Dive/Boat Dive
  • Level: Intermediate
  • Current: Intermediate/Drift Dive
  • Depth: 10-40 meters

One of our favorite dives is right in front of our resort in Amed. This dive has something for everybody. The thousands of Garden Eels popping out of the sandy bottom at the start of the dive are something you’ve never seen before. The current on this dive can be quite strong but is mostly just parallel to the coast. Just float along and look out for Sharks (Black tip, White tip and the occasional bigger species), Barraccudas, Tuna, Giant Trevally and many different species of Moray Eels and Rays.

This dive site is huge, with coral gardens to over 50m deep and a total length of over 500m! We still discover something new every day and diving this site will easily make you realize why we love this site so much. A must do dive on any Bali Dive trip.

Deep Blue

  • Type: Boat Dive
  • Level: Advanced
  • Current: Strong/Drift Dive
  • Depth: 5-35 meters

A 10 minute boat ride from our resort in Amed. The dive starts in a shallow bay with some very nice coral bommies covered in sea fans and with tons of small fish hovering around it. When you reach the deeper part of the dive around 30 meters the current will take you further. Current is mostly straight with no up or down current. You can drift quite far and you will pass schools of Batfish, Snapper, Napolean Wrasse, Giant Trevelly and Barracuda. We often spot White and Black Tip Reef Sharks as well.

Japanese Shipwreck

  • Type: Shore Dive/Boat Dive
  • Level: All levels
  • Current: Intermediate
  • Depth: 5-25 meters

A small Japanese fishing boat right off the beach. The wreck is quite small and there seems to be no one that knows how it got there, when it was sunk. All that is known is that it is a Japanese Vessel.

However, it is a beautiful dive site with plenty to offer. Corals adorn the wreck and there is a spectacular coral slope laying just behind the wreck. Currents can be a tricky, but never a problem.

You can expect to see a lot of macro life, with plenty of Nudebranches, Scorpion (leaf) Fish, shrimps, crabs, Pygmy Seahorse and so much more. An Amed region favorite.

Bluu Rocks

  • Type: Boat Dive
  • Level: Advanced
  • Current: Strong/Drift Dive
  • Depth: 5-35 meters

A very exciting dive! The currents on this dive can be very unpredictable, making this a dive for the more experienced divers. But you will be rewarded. Amazing coral gardens and bommies. Currents bring with them bigger fish and we have seen a lot of big fish action around here. There have even been sightings of Hammerhead Sharks here in the past…

Chinese Restaurant

  • Type: Boat Dive
  • Level: Advanced
  • Current: Strong/Drift Dive
  • Depth: 5-30 meters

Another very exciting place we just take advanced divers to. We named this site because of the amazing variety of amazing fish we saw during our first dive at this place. Sharks, Rays, Turtles, Octopus, Tuna, Napoleons, ... Strong currents and colder up wellings, make this a dive site for the more experienced diver. This is probably one of the most exciting new divespots around Bali and this will soon be a sought after dive spot!

Selang Bay

  • Type: Boat Dive
  • Level: Advanced
  • Current: Strong
  • Depth: 5-30 meters

Selang Bay and Selang Island are situated on the most Eastern point of Bali. All the water coming from the north is squeezed in between Bali and Nusa Penida and Lombok. This creates strong currents. Because of this the coral reefs and fish life in Selang Bay are abundant. With good visibility this dive is stunning! You stay inside the bay for most of the time and you will not need to go to deep because at about 20-25 meters the bottom changes into a sandy slope.

Gili Selang (Selang Island)

  • Type: Boat Dive
  • Level: Expert
  • Current: Very Strong
  • Depth: 5-40 meters

Gili Selang is the most eastern tip of Bali. On 95% of the dives, at least at some point during the dive, you will encounter very strong current as you pass the island. However, there are regular sights of Hammerheads, White tips and other pelagics passing by. Only for the very experienced divers. We will only take people if we're really 100% of their skills, as once you're in, there's only 1 way out.
